Bronze

Bronze statues have long been used to celebrate victories, honor a hero and bring to life myths and legends. Bronze provides a medium which can capture a likeness or a moment in time, and I have created figurative sculptures in this alloy more for than four decades. I also spent time as a young artist working in the studio and foundry of well-known sculptor Robert Graham.

Bronze is an alloy of copper, lead, tin and zinc, and is able to capture intricate detail when used in casting. In the foundry, the molten metal is poured into molds for individual pieces, allowed to cool, and then the mold is chiseled away. The work is then assembled, and detail work is done before the sculpture is fully complete.
